The Cougars played two games this past weekend and came away with four points. Saturday evening they hosted the Gatineau Hull-Volant. Gatineau went up 1-0 in the dying seconds of the first period. The Cougars tied it halfway through the second period on a goal by Ryan Allen and then went ahead in the third when Marc-Antoine Doyon put one past the Volant goaltender. With 1:38 left in regulation time, Gatineau tied it up. Tyler Druce was our overtime hero when he scored just two minutes into the overtime period to win the game.
On Sunday the Cougars travelled to Athens to take on the South Grenville Rangers. The Cougars were behind 3-0 after 12 minutes of play. Vankleek Hill was assessed a penalty and then scored two short handed goals (Charles Doyon and Riley Sauve) on the same penalty. In the second period the Cougars turned the heat up. Nikolas Ayotte scored short-handed, Ryan Allen and Tyler Druce each scored a power play goal and then Charles Doyon scored at regular strength. Jeremy Aubin scored his first goal in junior hockey. The Cougars led 7-3 at the end of the period. Things settled down in the third period, but Nikolas Ayotte still managed another goal to seal the 8-3 win.
Sebastian Moreau was solid in nets for both wins over the weekend
